And baby makes four…

Welp. We did it. After what seemed like the gestation period of an elephant, I finally went into labor and had our son one day before his actual due date. Aside from three days of acupuncture to get things moving, it was pretty textbook this time around -- 12 hours, start to finish, pushed for about 15 minutes and Baylor boy was born, 7lbs 3 oz, 20.5 inches long.  Hashtag, blessed. This was an incredibly different birth experience from my first with Georgia, which lasted nearly 36 hours, was mired in complications (like my cervix refusing...

Sustainable Parenthood

Sustainability in parenthood.. is there such a thing? I've been thinking a lot about the environment since I became a parent. Maybe I'm more wired to care and be aware of the world I'm leaving behind for my daughter or maybe I'm just old and watching the news now like my parents and trying to armchair quarterback the world's problems. What I do know is that parenthood brings with it a whole new level of waste. Have you ever shopped on Amazon? It's literally mama's little helper but the amount of packaging drives me up the...

Hair with Justin Anderson at DP Hue

As a busy mom, tending to my own grooming needs tends to go by the wayside. All too often I feel like I’ve woken up and suddenly have a Cruella de Ville grey streak running down the middle of my head.  Getting ready to start filming Season 2 of “Hollywood Darlings” this past fall, I had some serious work to do. Thankfully Justin Anderson, blonde guru, helped me out. I had the most incredible visit with him at DP Hue in LA where he took me under his wing and brought me back to...

Mac & Mia – ultimate style for kids!

I've mentioned how much help I need in the styling department. I have no time to shop and when I have tried on the past, let's be honest, Georgia is not really "into" the mall yet. It's a struggle keeping her entertained in a stroller while trying to do anything productive and I usually wind up stressed out, having wasted several hours of the day and find myself in the food court, eating my feelings in Wetzel Pretzel while she runs around on the verge of a meltdown. I love to dress Georgia up but I...

Family Beach trip

While we were back on the east coast, we took a family beach trip down to Sea Island, GA. We stayed with one of my oldest and dearest friends Rebecca (whom I've known since 3rd grade!) I just love it down there. Huge old oak trees, hanging with Spanish moss, warm calm water and more humidity than a steam shower in the jungle (which makes for awesome hydrated skin and questionable hair choices). Humid is why I invest in a hat. (This one is by J.Crew) My parents came down too and loved watching Georgia explore the beach...

Pizza May Be Saving Our Lives… this is not an understatement.

Picture it.It's 6:30pm on a Wednesday. Kid is running around naked from her bath as you trail after her with a diaper, dog is chewing a leggo, there's a pile of laundry glaring at you from the couch and your husband looks in the fridge and, in his best Les Miserables impersonation he says, "So are we eating dinner tonight?"Actually, I was thinking we'd stare at each other and starve.(sorry, that was supposed to be my "inside voice") If like me, you have experienced this or some form of similar insanity-inducing early evening chaos, I...

Mitz Accessories – awesome kids clothes

I'm always looking for cute clothes for Georgia and find I see a lot of the same stuff over and over. She's also into things like dogs and dinosaurs and weirdly enough, these are never in the "girls" section. Enter Mitz Accessories! Adorable unisex kids' clothes that don't fit into traditional gender binaries. Here's Georgia contemplating her next great architectural wonder.I love that they have tools on dresses and cats and dogs on t-shirts for boys and girls (because boys can like cats and girls can also want to play with tools!). My favorite have to...
